Ocean Network Express (ONE) was established on July 7, 2017 by the merger of ‘K’ Line, MOL and NYK. This was a notable merger at the time because NYK (Nippon Yusen Kaisha), MOL (Mitsui OSK Lines), and K Line (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha) were Japan’s three largest shipping lines.

Parent company was established in Japan on 7 July 2017 and at the same time a business management company was established in Singapore.

Regional headquarters have been established in Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, USA and Brazil and officially started operations in April 2018.

The reason for this merger is a wave of consolidation in the shipping industry after Hanjin (the world’s fifth largest shipping company) declared bankruptcy due to the prolonged economic downturn.

Currently, ONE has offices nationwide in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hanoi, Hai Phong

ONE Line’s fleet

After merging Nippon Yusen Kaisha (38% stake), K Line (31% share) and Mitsui OSK Lines (31% share), ONE is the world’s sixth largest shipping company with ONE’s fleet of 220 ships with a capacity of 1.5 million TEUs (accounting for 6.7% of the global market share).
