CMA CGM has ordered 12 LNG powered vessels and a further 10 conventionally powered ships from China’s state-run China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

The carrier announced today that it has ordered six 13,000TEU and six 15,000TEU container ships powered by LNG as well as a 10 ships of 5,500TEU that will use very low sulphur fuel oil. All the ships are due to be delivered in 2023 and 2024.

In its brief statement the company said, “This order aims at accommodating market growth.”
